Join us for a powerful conversation with GBC Alumn Karen Ingram, who brings a unique, personal lens to the history of school segregation and integration in Delaware. As someone with a front-row seat to this pivotal era and a master’s project rooted in this very history at the University of Delaware, Karen offers more than just historical facts—she brings lived experience, deep research, and heartfelt reflection.
In this talk, as part of our exhibit Injustice & Integration: 70 Years of Brown v. Board of Education, Karen will delve into the significance of Delaware’s often-overlooked role in the landmark case—particularly theÌýBelton (Bulah) v. GebhartÌýcase, which directly challenged segregation in Delaware schools and became one of the five cases combined intoÌýBrown v. Board. Karen will share personal stories, insights from her academic work, and reflections on the ongoing relevance of this history today.
Whether you’re a student learning about this chapter for the first time or a community member reflecting on how far we’ve come—and how far we still have to go—this event promises to make the history of school integration feel real, urgent, and personal.
