The purpose of this course is to provide a depth of understanding to relevant theories, issues, and practical applications of Career Counseling. Students will develop understanding of foundational theories and their respective applications within the diverse field of Counseling Psychology. Students will gain insight into aspects of the Career Counseling including but not limited to: how to apply career development theories and decision-making models; the interrelationships among and between work, family, and other factors including the role of diversity and gender in career development; career counseling processes, techniques, and resources, including those applicable to specific populations; and relevant ethical and legal considerations.

Prerequisites: PSY-610, PSY-623, PSY-631

This course is designed to introduce students to the application and integration of psychological assessment into practice. Students will learn the many ways in which assessment can improve diagnosis and provide clarity in instances were diagnosis may be more complex. They will also learn ways to integrate assessment measures into practice as a tool for deepening the therapeutic alliance. Essentials of assessment will cover self-report, projective, and more structured scales commonly used in practice. This will include a variety of mood, personality, and safety scales.

This course of advanced study is designed to add depth of understanding to the student’s knowledge of multicultural issues salient to the field while also enhancing the individual student’s capacity to successfully employ skills essential to multicultural populations he/she may encounter and serve. Ultimately, the student upon successful completion of this course will be better positioned to provide multicultural counseling competencies in a culturally relevant, sensitive, and effective manner to respective diverse populations. Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to demonstrate and articulate awareness of his/her own assumptions, values, and biases, an understanding of the worldview of diverse clients, and a better appreciation of his/her own limitations and strengths when engaged in multicultural professional relationships.

This course is designed as advanced study of fundamental assumptions, principles, theories, and constructs that are essential for advanced understanding of factors contributing to the development, maintenance, and treatment of substance abuse disorders. In this way students will be provided foundational preparation for working with clients struggling with issues related to substance abuse. Students will be exposed to salient theories and empirically grounded therapeutic practice protocols and how each may apply to working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. This course is thus designed to help students develop necessary conceptual knowledge, practical skills, and self-awareness concerning the etiology of addiction, assessment strategies, counselor self-care, and assessment and treatment planning.

This course is designed to provide the student with grounded understanding of the fundamentals of crisis management and crisis leadership. Students will develop an understanding of salient theories and practices designed to effectively and quickly respond to a variety of crises and related traumas. Students will examine historical and contemporary models of response with the goal of becoming knowledgeable of and skillful in crisis response and crisis management. Students will also develop understanding individual, familial, ethical, legal, cultural and diversity factors fostering and/or hindering effective response. Students will also examine their own biases to deepen necessary self-awareness needed for effective self-care and to combat compassion fatigue.

This course is designed to provide the student with increased understanding of the various challenges confronting clients affected by issues including but not limited to; aging, grief, military service, disabilities, unemployment, trauma, natural disaster, marital discord, abuse, and end of life decisions. Students will consider the role of community and community resources. Students will also become knowledgeable of current research on the role of race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and social class on the counseling relationship.

This course is designed to ground the student in the history of Neurodiversity in the learning, socialization, and employment as well as current issues related to the growing awareness of this population. Students will develop understanding of and appreciation for the unique challenges and abilities of individuals confronting different ways of learning and living. Student will be familiarized with past and current interventions, therapeutic approaches, as well as current and emerging strategies for working with neurodiverse individuals in terms of learning, socialization, integration, and working. Students will also develop insight into effective advocacy and a recognition of familial, social, cultural, and political barriers confronting neurodiverse individuals as well as identifying effective familial, social, cultural, and political resources.

This course will introduce, examine, and explore the concepts and constructs of Supply Chain Management as they apply to an ever-changing global landscape. Discussion will focus on the benefits of Supply Management as it relates to (a) the optimization benefit and global considerations in a dynamic world; (b) the technological and operational implications which organizations could leverage both within and external to their organizations and (c) the sustainability drivers and consideration to be factored into the strategic landscape to promote global engagement.

Prerequisites: BUS-598 or equivalent

Discussion will focus on the benefits of Supply Management as it relates to (a) the optimization benefit and global considerations in a dynamic world; (b) the technological and operational implications which organizations could leverage both within and external to their organizations and (c) the sustainability drivers and consideration to be factored into the strategic landscape to promote global engagement.

This Graduate course will explore the landscape of supply chain management in regards to corporate social responsibility and sustainability as it relates to (a) best practices and transformative approaches for building resiliency within supply chains, (b) observe strategies, sustainable models and mechanisms which support the integration of connected ecosystems, (c) examine the digital impact to our environment to support future value chains, (d) explore ethical and social consideration as they relate to the organization, environment and broader global community. The focus will be on the perspective of managers and senior leaders within the organization, the types of decisions to be made, the implementation process and the near and long-term benefits relative to an ever-evolving global environment.

Through the lens of a leader within a given organization; students will develop and show an understanding of the key concepts Supply Chain Management as well as application; through the development of a problem statement either within their own organization or a chosen organization addressing the following questions as noted below:
How do organizations observe, develop and incorporate Supply Chain Management as a viable strategic framework within their given Industry and what would be the associated benefits of utilizing these frameworks?
What applicable technologies and analytics would be used to support the organization and why have these been chosen?
What considerations need to be observed regarding corporate social responsibility and sustainability?
What domestic international inferences need to be considered relative to the chosen organization?
Demonstrate an overall synopsis and summary relative to the maturity of the organization; organizational and leadership considerations; stakeholder value community engagement; governance, financial health and welfare of the organization, technological considerations and employee interdisciplinary cross-functional knowledge.
Upon completion of the practicum the student will have demonstrated knowledge and practical application of the value of Supply Chain Management and its comparative transferability across industry and the impact to the broader environment, through the use of peer reviewed research; practical insight; critical inquiry and analysis and real world application.

The course covers such topics as choosing a research problem, selecting an appropriate research design, data collection, questionnaire construction, data reduction and analysis, and research management. In order to develop the student’s capability to conduct research, the course incorporates several exercises and projects that provide the students with a realistic understanding of the research process. This course aims to teach the basic techniques and also provide practice in conducting exploratory research.
